Becoming an Intern
The process of becoming one of Chef Empowerment's Interns is quite simple. As individuals, we make it our goal to assist all ages and demographics. Chef Empowerment will have several requirements for entry into the program. The following are the necessary requirement for eligibility.
- Must be between the ages of 12-18
- Live within the Central Florida Region
- Have reliable transportation
- You have to be able to work a minimum of 20 hrs per week
- Demonstrate the need for financial assistance (e.g. eligible for WIC, Snap, Free and Reduce lunch, considered "at-risk" as defined by the State of Florida ).
- Successfully complete an Interview with Culinary Director
- All Interns must show interest in pursuing a career field related to culinary arts.
- Submit the internship application and community partner referral form
After successfully meeting these requirements, Interns will be giving the CE's Curriculum packet. This packet will detail the weekly skills the Intern will have to master in order to reach graduation. There will be a practical assessment at the end of each lesson.
Once the Intern has completed the program, Chef Empowerment will host a graduation Prix Fixe dinner. This dinner will be for all of the graduates to showcase their talents to the community.
With certificate of completion in their hands, Chef Empowerment will assist the intern with Job placement in our community. We will match the Intern with jobs that fit their personalities. Our goal to set our member up with the best environment for development, growth and ultimately success!
